Project Volunteers are trained to help students with their schoolwork. Children are

community members and high school students also serve as tutors.

Project Goals and
Volunteers provide academic support to students who are motivated
Community Need
and capable, but perform below potential. Students are often from low

income households and have limited access to academic role models.
    
Description of
Coordinator recruits, screens, and places volunteers, and, along with
Project Staff,
district teaching staff and experienced tutors, conducts training for the
Coordinators and
approximately 85 adult tutors involved in the program. Coordinator
Volunteers:
also provides staff oversight.
